What is Stunt Driving in Ontario?
Stunt driving is one of the most serious offences under Ontario's Highway Traffic Act, Section 172 . It includes offences like excessive speeding, racing, and performing stunts such as drifting.
- 40 km/h+ over the speed limit (zones under 80 km/h)
- 50 km/h+ over the speed limit (zones 80 km/h+)
- 150 km/h+ anywhere
- Street racing, drifting, or "donuts"
Penalties for Stunt Driving
- Immediate 30-day licence suspension
- 14-day vehicle impoundment
- Fines $2,000 to $10,000
- Possible jail time (up to 6 months)
- Licence suspension (1 year to lifetime)
